United States Signs CRPD

On Thursday, July 30, Ambassador Susan Rice signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the first human rights treaty of the twenty first century, on behalf of the United States.
President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the intention of the United States to sign the CRPD at a White House celebration on Friday, July 24.
HPOD Executive Director Michael Stein attended the White House event which also commemorated the 19th anniversary of the landmark civil rights legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act.
